Gage Behnkendorf grew up in Eagle Grove, Iowa, with a deep urge to experience what was beyond the limits of his rural upbringing. With limited access to rigorous learning environments for the arts, he was forced to be a self-taught composer. At the age of 20, he was recognized as a top-ten finalist in the 2020 Berlin International Film Scoring Competition before ever receiving instruction from a professional composer.
